Obed Wild and Scenic River
HIGHLIGHTS:
Encompassing 5,000 acres of the Cumberland Plateau, Obed Wild and Scenic River protects the free-flowing Obed River, Clear Creek, Emory River, and its tributaries; impressive 400-foot-deep gorges carved out by the Obed River; 45 mile river system includes paddling opportunities for quiet floats to whitewater runs that range from Class II to Class IV; 23 miles of hiking trails that range from easy to moderate and wind through the rugged terrain and thick forests to stunning overlooks; bouldering on impressive large house size boulders along with steep cliffs for rock climbing with over 400 permanently-bolted routes that vary in difficulty from 5.7 to 5.13. The Cumberland Trail winds through the Park offering a challenging and scenic alternative for longer day hikes or backpacking trips.
